About Me

About Image 1

Hello, my name is Javo, and I'm an undergraduate student at St John's University majoring in Cybersecurity Systems! I have hands on experience with Software Engineering and Cybersecurity. I've also become really interested in AI/ML and all the possibilities with the use of it. Also, I have been working on Python for a while which has been really interesting and fun to learn. Additionally, I want to dive deeper into the AI and ML field to learn more about the future it can lead us to and gain practical skills that can be applied to the real world.

Aside from my dedication to cybersecurity, one of the core values that define me is my mindset in which I use to help others in need of any information that may help them within their career, as well as pushing myself past my limit to learn as many things as possible regardless of the difficulty.

A hobby of mine is that I play competitive soccer, and my favorite team is Chelsea. I've also been to many countries being part of the travel team in my club such as Austria, Germany, France, and many more. ⚽🌍

Reach out if you have any opportunities that I'll be interested in!

Experience

Data Engineering & AI/ML Extern (Operational Strategy & People Analytics Program, via Extern) @ Amazon

Jan 2024 - Jul 2024

Develop Python-based ETL pipelines, will apply sentiment analysis and predictive modeling to workforce data, and create Tableau dashboards that will enhance analytics efficiency and accelerate data-driven decision-making. Also, leveraging AI tools to uncover core issues affecting workforce experience and map project level cause and effect patterns.

IT Intern (Cybersecurity & Software Engineering) @ Maspeth Federal Savings Bank

Jan 2024 - Jul 2024

Supported the security and technology teams by enforcing cybersecurity policies, performing penetration testing, and managing vulnerabilities. I also contributed to secure software deployment and system optimization efforts, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and enhancing the bank's overall security posture.

Projects

Project X

EchoSafe

Built with the mission of protecting people from voice-based scams, EchoSafe is a full-stack Flask application that identifies and tracks scammer voiceprints to help prevent fraud before it happens. Combining Python, MySQL, and secure .mp3/.wav file handling, the platform allows users to safely upload, search, and play suspicious recordings through a clean and intuitive web interface. Designed with security, accuracy, and user trust at it's core.

Project Y

Microsoft Azure Sentinel Map (Live Cyber Attacks)

Developed a PowerShell script to extract and forward Windows Event Viewer metadata to a third-party API for geolocation analysis, enabling real-time mapping of RDP brute-force attacks in Azure Sentinel. Configured a custom workbook to visualize attack origins and severity across 30+ countries, successfully identifying over 500 distinct threat sources and reducing incident response time from hours to minutes.

Project Z

Penetration Testing Project @ Maspeth Federal Savings

Conducted a wireless penetration test using a Crazyradio USB dongle and Kali Linux to uncover high-risk vulnerabilities in Logitech devices. Successfully simulated keystroke injection attacks, documented findings in a 12-page report, and provided detailed remediation strategies to enhance device security.
